Researcher, educator, dancer, and storyteller — a life spent at the intersection of science, service, and art.
Sindhu Ravuri is a data analyst and biomedical researcher whose work sits at the intersection of quantitative science, public health, and equity. Armed with dual degrees from UC Berkeley — a B.S. in Bioengineering and a B.A. in Molecular & Cellular Biology — she brings a uniquely interdisciplinary lens to every project she takes on.
For over three years at the California Department of Public Health's Modeling and Advanced Analytics Group, Sindhu led multi-stage mathematical modeling initiatives spanning wastewater-based nowcasting, behavioral modeling, and health equity research. Her work directly shaped state-level COVID-19 policy, contributing to the CalCAT public-facing dashboard and the equity dashboard at covid19.ca.gov.
Her research has produced five peer-reviewed publications in top journals including Epidemics, Water & Health, Environmental Science: Water Research & Technology, Frontiers in Public Health, and Emerging Infectious Diseases. She presented at the Public Health & Water Conference in 2022 and earned first place in a poster presentation at the University of Cambridge International Conference.
Combining statistical and mechanistic models to produce insights that are reproducible, transparent, and actionable for real-world policy.
Centering the populations most affected by disease in every analysis — from risk factor assessments to intervention modeling.
Translating complex quantitative findings into clear, compelling narratives for audiences from peer researchers to state leadership.
From founding bioengineering competitions for high schoolers to advocating for trafficking survivors — she leads with purpose.
Course founder at UC Berkeley and a passionate mentor — committed to making bioengineering and classical arts accessible to the next generation.
International performances, advocacy at the World's Women Congress, and published reporting on global human rights issues.
Emphasis in Cell & Tissue Engineering. Graduated 2020.
2020Emphasis in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Honors. Graduated 2020.
2020Since 2014, Sindhu has trained under Padmabhushan Raja Reddy at Natya Tarangini International School of Dance. She has performed on the world's most prestigious stages — at the Parliament of India, Germany's Federal Parliament, and the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival, where she received the Naatya Mayuri Award. At just 15, she was the youngest performer in a Germany tour. Today, she also teaches Kuchipudi at the India Community Center, where she founded the program from scratch.
Outside of research and dance, Sindhu's interests span investigative journalism, global human rights advocacy, science communication, and mentoring the next generation of scientists and engineers.
